The region of Richmond is located in the north-western part of Queensland, Australia. The area covers approximately 26,663km2 and is home to approximately 2,500 people.
The town of Richmond is the main hub of the region and is situated on the Flinders Highway, approximately halfway between Townsville and Mount Isa. The town is well known for its fossil discoveries and has a number of attractions including the Kronosaurus Korner museum and the Richmond Lake Park.
The region is also home to a number of national parks including the Undara Volcanic National Park and the Flinders River National Park. These parks offer visitors the opportunity to explore the unique landscapes and wildlife of the region.
Richmond has a warm climate, with hot summer months and mild winter months. The region is primarily used for grazing and agriculture, with cattle and sheep farming being the main industries.
The region is also home to a number of events throughout the year including the Richmond Field Days, the Camel Races, and the Outback Food, Wine and Music Festival.
